Growing and Going Green

Simply Desserts, LLC is honored to have the opportunity to provide one of our creative designs to the Arc of Howard County. This year we have designed a green home, inspired by the movement to become more self-sufficient on renewable energy sources. Becoming more in tuned with renewable products and energy sources is one way each of us can grow as we go green.

The  Cake:

The cake is a sophisticated dark chocolate cake layered with a Bailey’s butter cream.  The original design was developed from multiple green homes that push the envelope in self-sufficient living. Major components of these designs combined with a few of our own were leveraged to draft the initial concept.

 The cake includes the following green components:

 - Solar Panels: Harness the natural resources of the sun

 - Living Roof: Reduce water run-off

 - Water Barrels: Recycle excess water for irrigation

 - Recycle Bin: Encourage recycling of products to reduce landfill usage

 - Energy Efficient Windows: Reduce need for electrical usage

 - Reusable Products:  There are numerous building materials and landscaping products that are recycled from items we use every day.

We are always pleased to see the finish product and share our creation with our customers. We hope that you enjoyed tasting our flavorful combination this year and look forward to serving you in 2010.
